First and foremost, it’s cruciual to keep logs and other stove fuel dry. Seasoned wood which has been prepared for burning has essentially just been dried to a moisture level of less than 20%. Trying to burn wet or damp logs is almost impossible - even wood which was once bone-dry and ready for burning.
There are essentially three main ways of storing logs. Free-stacking and covering logs with a sheet of some-sort is far from ideal due to their exposure to the elements and the effect of moisture from condensation. Neither method looks great in a garden either.
The only truly effective option is to invest in a good-quality log storage structure.
